The Minister of states for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, has assured that the commitment of Nigeria to the holistic transformation of her energy sector is unwavering.
Speaking during a dinner organized by the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG) which was the inaugural dinner of the 8th edition of the Nigeria International Energy Summit, he emphasized the immense potential Nigeria's vast oil and gas reserves offer.
While welcoming distinguished dignitaries at the dinner, captains of industries and diplomats from across the world, he disclosed that
Nigeria will not abandon fossil fuels prematurely.
He said:" I commend the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG) for hosting the inaugural dinner of the 8th edition of the Nigeria International Energy Summit.
"However, while global conversations around energy transition continue, Nigeria will not abandon fossil fuels prematurely. Our priority remains addressing energy poverty while advancing sustainable solutions.
"We have made significant strides in ensuring cleaner and greener exploration. I also emphasize on the immense potential our vast oil and gas reserves offer. Nigeria is ready for business.
"Through the Climate Change Act, a robust legal framework - the PIA, we have created an enabling environment for investment.
" I, therefore, call on investors to seize this opportunity and tap into Nigeria’s energy sector - a vast market serving West Africa and beyond."
