HOSTCOMYCN Urges Oil/Gas Host Communities To Protect Oil Pipelines In Their Domain

 

A body known as Host Communities Producing Oil, Gas and Pipeline Impacted States Youth Council of Nigeria (HOSTCONYCN), has  urged all stakeholders in the oil and gas communities to always ensure the protection of the oil pipeline and the oil facilities in the region.

This was as the group asked all to 

join hands with  Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, (NUPRC),

for sustainable development, stability, and the growth of oil production in the country 

Speaking on Friday during a Press Conference at Abuja, Emmanuel  Fiawei Pathfinder, President of HOSTCONYCN, said that  goal was to engage with necessary authorities on the best way forward for the Oil and Gas Producing Communities and yo  advocate for the proper implementation of the 3% Petroleum Industry Act.

 

Pathfinder maintained that  the group wants to work for host communities as it regards to the Host Communities’ Development Trust Fund (HCDTF) for the sake of Equal Rights, Justice, Fairness and Inclusiveness.

 He said:"We are the eyes, ears, heart, strength and foot soldiers of Oil and Gas producing Communities, and we insist that as very critical and fundamental stakeholders in the oil and gas sector, we must be involved in and carried along in all PIA and HOSTCON matters." 

"Therefore, we urge all stakeholders in the oil and gas communities to always ensure the protection of the oil pipeline and the oil facilities in the region, and to join hands with the NUPRC boss, Engr. Komolafe, for sustainable development, stability, and the growth of oil production in the economy."

"We commend the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, (NUPRC), Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, for his laudable transformation policies and reforms used to restructure, reorganize and sanitize the nation’s oil sector, by strategically repositioning the upstream sector, and for working closely with the host communities to ensure they inaugurate the Host Community Development Trust, HCDT, across the oil producing states and communities."

"We also applaud Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, for his unwavering commitment and dedication to accountability transparency and efficient utilization of natural resources for the cardinal objectives of NUPRC, thereby ensuring effective productivity and service delivery for the betterment of our nation, and for proper implementation  and disbursement of the 3% as contained in the Petroleum Industry Act, PIA."

That he said  goes directly to the host communities adding that the has  been able to disburse over N200b to the HCDT, for infrastructure and socio-economic development in the host communities.

The group also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for re-awarding the Tantita Security Pipeline Surveillance Contract  which it said was to secure the nation's oil and gas assets adding that it has significantly increased the nation’s oil production output rapidly to 1.8 million barrels per day.

"This is based on the laudable efforts and tireless sacrifices contributed by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited"

"We are very hopeful that by January and February 2025, the output of oil production will increase to over 2.5 million barrels daily for the stability of the economy of the nation."

The group also  passed a vote of confidence on Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited of High Chief Dr. Government Ekpemeupolo and weighed their support to the entire management staff of the company.

"We also want to use this opportunity to commend the management of the company for their unwavering commitment, dedication, tireless efforts and sacrifices being made to deliver this uncommon successes and achievements to grow this massive Oil production output."

"We, therefore, use this opportunity to appeal to Mr. President and the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC, Engr. Mele Kyari, to increase the funding of Tantita Security Services pipeline surveillance contract job, and to expand its scope of coverage by mandating it to carry out supervision, monitoring and revenue collections from the vessels  operating in Nigerian territorial waters in order to drastically reduce the sabotage of oil thefts activities being carried out by most of this foreign vessels operating in our Nigerian waterways."
