Dr. Ebi Nurseman Isaac Mourns Bayelsa Deputy Governor

It is with profound sadness that I received the shocking and unbelievable news of the passing of Senator (Dr.) Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the 'Workaholic' Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State. On behalf of the management, pupils, and students of God's Reward Int'l School, Ikorodu, Lagos, as well as the good people of Abukubulou Quarters in Toru-Ndoro Town, Ekeremor Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Bayelsa State, and to the family of the late Deputy Governor.

My condolences also go to the Governor of Bayelsa State - His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, who, until the death of his deputy, properly managed the issues surrounding defection in a mature manner and maintained the existing cordial relationship with his deputy, who died in active state service on Thursday, December 11th, 2025, at age 60.

The sudden passing of the Deputy Governor reminds me of my inspirational definition of 'MAN', which I defined over three decades ago as 'M-orning', 'A-fternoon', and 'N-ight'. 'Morning' - the day we came into this temporal world. 'Afternoon' - the toiling period of acquiring the temporary things of life, such as certificates, position, wealth, influence, etc. 'Night' - when we finally say goodnight (goodbye) to these temporal things we have acquired in this life and are buried empty as we came, continuing the journey of eternal life either in heaven or in hell.

This inspirational definition of 'MAN' in a dramatized form, warning political gladiators and religious men and women to avoid deadly political and religious games because of present or forthcoming elections, which they may or may NOT live to see, is in video and audio form and was  being aired every day of the week on NDTV, NTA-Yenagoa, AIT-Yenagoa, Radio Bayelsa, and other media organizations since 2013 through self-support during and after my tenure as Chief Press Secretary, Ekeremor Local Government Council, and Corporate Social Responsibility Departments of those various media outfits. Of a truth, everything about this life is vanity upon vanity, according to the biblical King Solomon, as recorded in Ecclesiastes 1:1-3. And as the songwriter rightly said, 'We shall only be remembered by what we have done'. Senator Ewhrudjakpo will be remembered for his dedication to public service, his commitment to the development of Bayelsa State, first as Commissioner for Works/Infrastructure, Senator, and then Deputy Governor.

May God comfort the bereaved family, the Governor, and government of Bayelsa State, and grant everyone the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, not only to the family and people of Bayelsa but to the whole Niger Delta, South-South Region, and Nigeria in general.
