2027: As Bayelsa APC Members Meet To Chart A Way Forward

The Nigerian  General Elections, will be coming up in 2027 and so politicians are  subtly  working for one aspirant /candidate or another.

Nigeria is well known for its diverse ethnicity and that has also been transferred to politics. For Nigerians including the political class, the current Renewed Hope under President Bola Tinubu, is choking. Therefore, most Nigerians are of the opinion that Power must change hand while those that are benefiting, are pressing that the current President Bola Tinubu should continue.

That has as a matter of fact, made parties in the country to break into segments with some still being in   APC while some have joined ADC from PDP and Labour Party.

For the party in power, it must remain with them while fur those feeling that power must shift, they have all formed alliance to make sure that the current administration is ousted.

But that has brought some state chapters of APC and some groups endorsing President Tinubu ahead of 2027 as the Bayelsa State chapter also joined the league to recently endorse him.

But for the party in Bayelsa State, there are some intra- party skirmishes that are still bugging the party in the state which has warranted the party to call for a stakeholders meeting where some key stakeholders for some reasons best known to them were absent.

However, the people available  on 9th of September , 2025, went ahead to do their thing and endorsed President TInubu while still appealing to the likes of Heineken Lokpbiri, David Lyon and others to have a rethink so that there will be unity in the party.

The Unity in the state, they said will help them clinch the Governorship position to enable them hit the Creek Haven.

So the meeting brought some members of the national leadership of the party to show their seriousness and to show that the party in the state is ready to take over the Creek Haven come 2027.

The meeting brought together people like Timipre Sylva, former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, Prince Ebitimi Amgbare, former governor f the state Ebebi,  among others.

All the discussions however centered on how to get the party in the state ready come 2027.

They also read a motion enforcing the current  President, Bola TInubu and it  was read by Philip Ikrusi and  seconded by Preye Oseke, former House of Reps Member.

Motion:  The Motion which endorsed President TInubu reads:  I hereby move that the leadership, stakeholders, and entire members of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Bayelsa State, having duly appraised the performance of the Renewed Hope Agenda and consulted and deliberated amongst ourselves do hereby unanimously;  pass a vote of confidence on His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the excellent performance of his administration’s renewed hope agenda in infrastructural and human capital development, particularly  in the Niger Delta Region region.

"We therefore adopt President Bola Ahmed TInubu as our sole Presidential Candidate candidate for the 2027 Presidential elections.

"I move this motion in recognition of the outstanding leadership, vision and commitment that President Tinubu has demonstrated since assuming office in 2023. His bold reforms in  Economy, infrastructures, Energy and Security sectors have laid a solid foundation for a prosperous Nigeria and rekindled hope among our citizens.

"President TInubu has remained steadfast in promoting national unity, strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every part of the nation, including the Niger Delta Region region. His administration’s focus on youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and development of the oil producing communities has further deepened our confidence in his "Renewed Hope Agenda hope agenda"

"Therefore, we, the APC family in Bayelsa State with one voice, resolve to: Endorse and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the sole candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) for the 2027 Presidential Election.

"Mobilize our members, structures, and resources all across wards and local government areas in Bayelsa State to ensure resounding victory for our great party.

".Call on all progressive minded Nigerians to rally behind the leadership of President Tinubu to consolidate on the gains already made and move Nigeria to greater heights."

 Dennis Otiotio:

In his opening remarks at the meeting, Dr Dennis Otiotio, the Chairman of the party in the state disclosed that the unanimous decision came because it was all agreed that  President Bola TInubu has done a lot for the people of the state.

He said that the President has given so many appointments to the people of the state maintaining that they were  grateful  to Mr President for the Coastal Road that has made Bayelsa State  to be connected to other parts of the country.

Stating that other infrastructural projects  are ongoing, Otiotio disclosed that " we are

grateful to Mr President for appointing our Sons and Daughters into principal positions like Samuel Ogbuku, Heineken Lokpobiri, Didi Walson Jack, Prince Ebitimi Angbare among others, including  my humble self."

He thanked the national leadership of the party for coming to Bayelsa State adding that "it shows the importance the national leadership attaches to the  APC Bayelsa State.

The chairman also  thanked all the stakeholders of the party whom he said have abandoned everything to support Mr President and other National Assembly members  adding  " that shows that we are committed. We are together working to ensure victory for the party.

He  particularly thank Samuel Ogbuku the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission and Timipre Sylva  former Minister for Petroleum Resources for always supporting the party in the state.

Ogbuku: Also speaking, Samuel Ogbuku the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission in his remarks  thanked all that made themselves available for the reconciliatory meeting adding  that "people were assuming that the party was in disarray.

He  added that Because Bayelsa State has benefited greatly from Mr President's magnanimity.

"Today is a very a great day  and I believe that they national working committee of APC has seen that the party is not in disarray. And we are ready for 2027.

"The reconcilation committee has done a very good job and I'm aware that the state working committee allowed the committee to do  a very good job. They finished their work and  called for a stakeholders meeting to ensure that everybody attends the meeting.

"I want to thank the chairman who has stood irrespective of various challenges  he has  had.Today I, can see  APC members, who are very hungry for victory.

"We have done it before and I know that we can always do it again because it is something that we are used to doing; winning.

"I want to assure you that APC in Bayelsa State has  resolved to ensure that we all bury our differences to ensure that come 2027, we will also reciprocate the gesture which Mr President has given to the people of Bayelsa State.

"He gave us this position so that we can use  the positions to also spread the good news of "Renewed Hope" and ensure that we renew the hope of our followers and  the hope of the people of Niger Delta using these offices. And I can assure you,  that those  that  Mr President has given these responsibilities in Bayelsa State,  will not disappoint you. I want to believe that  to the  Minister of Petroleum Resources is also doing well because the price of Crude Oil has also gone up.

"He is complementing the effort of Mr President.  We have assured me President that we will use our energy and  our  resources to ensure that  we will deliver Bayelsa to APC come 2027 because we believe anything short of that will be termed as ingratitude."

Chief Timipre Sylva: Former Minister of Petroleum Resources, said he was expecting all to be at the meeting so that the national body of the party will deal the unity but regretted that some people were absent.

He disagree with people saying the APC Bayelsa State didn't do well in 2023 adding that the party did its 25 unlike other states.

He said:" I thought that everyone would have been here so that the national working committee would seal the unity of the party, but unfortunately some of our people are not here.

"I thought that all of us were going to be here because the reconcilation committee was set up by the national, and they went round and talked to all of us because the problem in APC Bayelsa State, is disunity and if we are together nobody can win is.

"Especially at this point that we heard that PDP government is very seriously mulling the possibility of moving over to  APC because they have seen that the APC is the party on Bayelsa State. This is a time for us to come together and join hands as one family to stand behind the President but unfortunately Heineken Lokpobiri who is the Minister of Petroleum, Oil, is not here today.

"I'm really calling on him to come, let us join hands together. We are one family, we are Bayelsans, we are all Ijaw people in Bayelsa State. Mr President is doing well for us and the only thing we can do for him is to stand behind him in 2027.

"So, I'm calling emphatically on Heineken Lokpobiri and his supporters to come so that we can work together as one family towards 2027.

"When some people say that we didn't perform well in 2023, I disagree. We did very well.  We were  not in the category of those states that could not even produce 25%.

"And today, we are more ready than ever before to do more. The only thing this party has lacked in Bayelsa State is support from the national.

"I want to assure you that with the  right support, nobody in Bayelsa State can stand any election with APC. 2027 is already a done deal as long as we have the support and commitment from you the national."

Professor Nentawe Yilwatda:The National Chairman of the party, represented by the APC Deputy National Chairmanships, South, Chief Emma Eneukwu, stated that President Tinubu was  taking  the country to a greater height.

He also revealed that more governors in the country will join the party ahead of the 2027 general election adding that President Tinubu has done well the reason why more governors and Senators abandoned their parties to  joined APC.

He said: “Our doors are still open, more governors are still moving in to our party. More personalities are still moving in, senators, members of the House of representatives,  are coming in because of the caliber, integrity and the output of the person we have as  president.

“Other people who are running around trying to challenge the president in the 2027 election, but we have a product that even a blind man in this country will support overwhelmingly.

“I am very happy with the South South geopolitical zone, because all the governors that were in the other Political parties before have seen the quality of the character of the president and the person we are presenting and marketing to return as the President of the Federal republic.

"Because of what they saw in Mr President, they have all abandoned their own political parties, and joined our great party, so that they can put hands together to move Nigeria forward, and that is very commendable.

“From the South East, we use the South South as an example, because all the governors are very realistic and  understanding, they have moved on abandoning their parties, just to make sure that their goal of making Nigeria a greater country is achieved.

“They are leaving their parties to come to APC to support Mr President in 2027 to record an overwhelming victory, so that as we go into 2027, governance will be easier.

“The President is not afraid; he takes the bull by the horn, what others do not have the political will to embark on, he goes about it and he achieves results, this president is on the move to take Nigeria to a greater height.”
