ONUIMO HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS' MEETING, TASKS CITIZENS TO TAKE THE ONGOING VOTERS' REGISTRATION/ REVALIDATION EXERCISE SERIOUS

 

Stakeholders of onuimo LGA converged on Friday, August 29,2025 at okwe,the council headquarter to deliberate on some burning national issues as it affects the local government. The attendees were there to also discuss how best to move the LGA forward in the face of the current trends in national development. 

The meeting was called by the council boss aimed at making deliberations on:

1) the ongoing INEC registration and revalidation exercise

2) Need for the people to embrace the on-going federal government grant meant to favour at least 1,000 persons per ward, and 

3) Need for every citizen of the area to be security conscious and collaborate with security agencies towards a crime free, peaceful society, among others. 

The meeting witnessed a large turnout of people from all works of life including officials of the local government both elected and appointed. Others present were LGA  and ward party executives of the various political parties in the area, village heads, town union Presidents general, clan presidents general, leaders of traditional institutions in the area, the LGA's sons and daughters holding zonal and or State positions among the various political parties in Nigeria,leaders of various interests groups, youth and women leaders, other notable leaders as well as officials of the INEC in Onuimo, among others

After an extensive deliberation on the matters, it was resolved that the ongoing INEC registration exercise in the LGA should be given the attention it deserved and that messages would be extended to the nooks and crannies of the entire local government, wherein citizens would be properly sensitized and proactive measures taken to ensure that those qualified to register do so with necessity.

Also resolved was that His Excellency the governor of lmo State, in his usual manner did noble by attracting that wholesome quantum of federal government grant to the State. Hence, Onuimo will leave no stone unturned to ensuring that the 10,000 and above forms allocated to the LGA are appropriately distributed to the categories of persons they are meant for and that those category of persons duly benefit from the scheme as designed.

Aside that,the meeting called on everyone maintain vigilance and shurn vices or acts capable of breaching the already existing peace in the area. They further advised that all to be his/her brother's keeper and to always endeavour to report security issues to the appropriate quarters for resolution and further necessary actions. 

On his own part, Mr Ohabuiro Henry, the INEC Electoral Officer, EO, in the area, on behalf of the Commission, promised to cooperate with the citizens throughout the registration exercise, which according to him will last for a twelve calendar months, beginning from this August., to ensure that every qualified resident that comes to them is given due consideration.
