The Minister of Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, has called on African nations to be united stating that with that, the energy deficit plaguing the continent can be addressed.
Speaking during the week in United States of America at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), he disclosed that the collective support will further strengthen the African platform for sustainable energy growth.
Lokpobiri however commended commended the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) for their consistent efforts in ensuring Nigeria’s presence and visibility at the #OTC.
With the theme of the event as “Africa’s Energy Renaissance: Leveraging Innovation and Natural Gas for Sustainable Development,” the Minister challenged other Nigerian companies, as well as counterparts from across the African continent, to align with PETAN’s initiative by participating in future editions of the #OTC.
He said:" Africa can effectively address her energy deficiencies by working in unison. This collective support will further strengthen the African platform for sustainable energy growth.
" I commend the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) for their consistent efforts in ensuring Nigeria’s presence and visibility at the #OTC, as we collectively strive to attract investors into our energy sector.
" I therefore challenge other Nigerian companies, as well as counterparts from across the African continent, to align with PETAN’s initiative by participating in future editions of the #OTC.
"I also expressed my deep appreciation to the Nigerian contingent and representatives from other APPO Member nations, especially Ghana who showcased at our Pavilion, for their strong presence.
"With the vision and leadership of APPO, we are certainly on track to addressing Africa’s energy challenges in a collaborative and impactful manner."
