Midstream/Downstream Segments Flow Naturally When Upstream Thrives: Lokpobiri

 

The Minister of state for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, has said that when the upstream thrives, the midstream and downstream segments naturally follow suit.

He therefore underscored the urgent need to ramp up production maintaining that an underperformed upstream is one of the critical factors for energy deficiency. 

Speaking at Abuja   on Wednesday during his  opening remark at the African upstream session at the #NIES2025,  he stated that  the country cannot lift ourselves out of poverty through borrowing, but through tangible investments in our energy sector. 

"When the upstream thrives, the midstream and downstream segments naturally follow suit, underscoring the urgent need to ramp up production.

"We have remained steadfast in creating an investment-friendly environment that guarantees returns.

 "This commitment is reflected in our continuous efforts to implement investor-centric policies, enhance regulatory frameworks and promote transparency. 

" I express optimism that the insightful discussions and strategic exchanges at the forum will align efforts toward unlocking investment opportunities.

"I call  on both local and international investors to seize the vast opportunities within Nigeria and Africa’s energy market." He said.
