The Leadership of Ijaw Youths Council Central Zone, has called on those blaming Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources for the fuel crisis in the country to stop forthwith.
The IYC led by Comrade Perekosufa Ineife, on Wednesday said that those blaming the Minister should know that the fuel crisis going on in the country is a complex issue that requires a multifaceted approach to be handled.
The IYC Central Zone therefore beckoned on the national leadership of IYC to call for an emergency expanded exco meeting to inflict disciplinary measures on ering officers.
According to Comrade Perekosufa Ineife, some members of the IYC, had alleged that the fuel crisis in Nigeria is solely caused by the Heineken Lokpobiri but Ineife in a statement made available to journalists in Yenagoa had stated that those blaming the minister should stop.
The group fingered thise members of the IYC as mere tools being used by political actors to disenfranchise the Ijaw Nation of the only minister it has.
The leadership condemned the call for the redeployment of Heineken Lokpobiri and urged the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) to support the Minister in his efforts to improve the oil and gas sector in Nigeria.
The statement reads:" Those blaming the Minister, should know that the fuel crisis going on the country is a complex issue that requires a multifaceted approach to solve therefore, it is unfair to place the blame solely on the Minister."
"The fuel crisis in the country is a shared responsibility, and we must all work together to find a lasting solution."
" Honourable Lokpobiri is a competent Minister with a strong and intimidating track record of public service, who is working tirelessly to improve the oil and gas sector in Nigeria."
"He has implemented various policies and initiatives to increase local refining capacity, promote investment in the sector and reduced the country's dependence on imported fuel. These efforts have yielded positive results and will continue to do so in the long-run."
"We appeal to the IYC President Jonathan Lokpobiri, to call for an emergency expanded exco meeting comprising the NEC, the Parliament, principle officers of the 5th Mobile Parliament and the Zonal/ Chapter chairmen that made up the council expanded exco." The statement concluded.
