Uzodimma Orders Immediate Construction Of Umuna/Umuduru Egbeaguru Road.

 

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has directed  the state Ministry of Works to  as a matter of urgency commence the construction of Umuna/Umuduru Egbeaguru road in Onuimo  Local Government Area of the state.

This was as Honourable Uba James Esile, the member representing  Onuimo state constituency at the Imo State House of Assembly,  on Tuesday,  presented a motion on the floor of the house to that effect.

Recall that the road under review which links Umuna, Okwe the headquarters of Onuimo Local Government Area and Umuduru Egbuaguru has been in a deploration condition for a very long time now.

With that burden in his heart, Esile speaking extensively  at the floor of the house on the need to have the road fixed, argued that  this particular road is the major internal link road in Onuimo, which cuts across six autonomous communities and seven wards in the LGA. 

He also disclosed that  the road leads to a neighbouring community in Ideato North Local Government  Area.

 The lawmaker lamented heavily, that  as the rain starts in earnest, over seventy percent of ndi OnuImo will be completely cut off from accessing other parts of the state. 

He also revealed how the impassible state of  that road  had aided criminal activities and drastically made economic activities redundant in the locality. 

Explaining to his Honourable colleagues, Esile said " This road in question is very  important  for the survival and well being of my constituents. 

"As the people who are predominantly farmers, they  had always faced constraints in transporting their farm produces to other parts of the local government and the state at large even in the face of the prevailing food scarcity in the country. 

However, James Esile  eulogized His Excellency, governor Hope Uzodimma for the brand new Owerri - Okigwe road constructed by his administration which he noted, positively affected some parts of Onuimo Local Government.

He expressed optimism that the governor, in the same vein, would give a  listening ear to the outcry of ndi Onuimo regarding this their major internal road.

Other lawmakers lent their voices, in calling for rapid action to be taken to ameliorate the sufferings of ndi Onuimo regarding the road. 

At the end,  the entire house adopted the motion in oneness directing the state ministry of works to take the required action.
