Ekeremor Community Honours Senator Lokpobiri And Others.

The good people of Ekeremor Town in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has honoured the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Oil, Senator Heineken and others in a grand reception at the  community pavilion under the distinguished Chairmanship of retired Director of DSS,  Pro-Chancellor  and Chairman Governing Council of the Niger Delta University, Amassoma,  Elder(Dr.) Matthew Seiyefa with fanfare on Saturday, 9th March, 2024.

The Chairman of the occasion, Elder(Dr.) Matthew Seiyefa who is also the proprietor of Ebitare Bookshop and Hotels Yenagoa in his opening remarks thanked God for making the reception possible.and commended Governor Douye Diri for being pivotal to creating the enabling environment for the people of Ekeremor to celebrate Senator Heineken Lokpobiri and for his physical presence at the accasion describing the miracle governor as a peaceful man who always identify with common ground.

The Chairman of the occasion noted that Governor Douye Diri like to honour people and thanked him for appointing him as honourary security adviser.

Dr. Matthew Seiyefa prayed God to honour Governor Douye Diri as he is honouring others.

The former Director General DSS advised youths to be patient, persevere, work hard which he stated are the building blocks to attain greatness and expressed confidence in the ability of  Senator Heineken Lokpobiri to deliver the goods and  represent the state well

In his remarks, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri praised Senator Heineken Lokpobiri for bringing inclusive and different type of representation  to the state.

Governor Douye Diri  advised.political leaders to set aside their differences now that government is in place to develop the state and Nigeria in general.

He urged the Minister of State Petroleum Resources, Oil to partner with the state government to complete the road from Ekeremor to Agge and assured that the Nembe Brass road will also be completed adding that  he had fruitful discussion with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has given him signal  to intervene to construct the Brass Nembe road project and thanked  the president for appointing Senator Heineken Lokpobiri as  Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Oil

He prayed that Bayelsa State will grow from strength to strengthen, development to development and advised Bayelsans to unite irrespective of party affiliations while stating that his interest is to protect Bayelsa State, Ijaws in Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Ondo and Edo States .emphasizing that all Ijaws are one and must unite to move forward.

On his part the Managing Director,  Niger Delta Development Commission,  Dr. Samuel Ogbuku said he came to solidarize with the Ekeremor people for honouring their sons and daughters noting that it is the place of Government to appoint while it is pertinent for the people to honour the appointees.

The NDDC boss asserted that the commission under his leadership will partner with the Bayelsa and Delta State Government to connect  the riverine communities in the two states with motorable roads for sustainable development 

In his solidarity speech the Royal Father of the Day, the Pere of Tuwomo Kingdom in Delta State, His Royal Majesty, retired Hon. Justice of the Supreme Court, Fedudei Tabai  said the reception is a celebration of success, achievement and excellence saying that Senator Heineken Lokpobiri and the other honorees have made Ekeremor and the Ijaw Nation proud 

  

The former Supreme Court Justice turned traditional ruler urged the good people of Ekeremor to continue to support Senator Heineken Lokpobiri to succeed in his new assignment and advised the youths to be peaceful, law abiding and avoid acts inimical to societal development.

Earlier, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ekeremor Local Government Area, Barr. Belema Nimene in his welcome address stressed that the reception was conceived to celebrate  and appreciate the honorees in recognition of  their achievements in different field of human endeavours and for contributing positively to the development of Ekeremor Local Government Area.

He assured Senator Heineken Lokpobiri of the commitment of the people to work with him irrespective of political differences to develop the area.

 Barr. Belema Nimene expressed gratitude to Governor Douye Diri for completing the Sagbama  Ekeremor road and other visible developmental strides in the area, and thanked every one for finding time to grace  the occasion.

The  reception featured cultural displays by the multiple award winning Bayelsa  State  Council for Arts and Culture Troupe, the Egbelegbele International Dance Band of Amassoma, Masquerade display, Ekeremor women dance among others.
