We Are Not Moving Into Ernest Ikoli Media Center:Ayiba Duba.

 

Contrary to Rumour making round that the Ministry of Information, Orientation and Strategy  was planning to take over the newly built  Ernest Ikoli Media Center, the commissioner in charge of the ministry Ayiba Duba has said that the ministry was not going anywhere.

Recall that  some Staff of Bayelsa state Government owned Media houses  had called on the Governor of Bayelsans State,  Douye Diri to come to their aid as  according to them there were feelers that the Ministry of Information was planning  to move  into the Ernest Ikoli Media Centre built for just the media houses by the Prosperity administration.

The Media house is meant to house the Bayelsa State Broadcasting corporation known as Radio Bayelsa,Niger Delta Television and State Newspaper corporation known as New Waves as stated by Governor Douye Diri during its inauguration on the 14th of February 2022.

Some staff have wondered why they cannot be well accommodated in the newly built edifice and are operating from their old site due to lack of office accomodation when  according to them there are vacant office rooms that are well under lock and key for the Ministry's use when clearly, they were not the reason the media centre was built.

Staff of the broadcast outfits also expressed fears that they may attract sanctions from their supervising agencies National Broadcasting Commission and Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria over possible ward-off of opposition candidates especially with an off-season election coming up in November, where the Broadcast House is expected to give level playing ground to all parties.

They want His Excellency, the Governor of Bayelsa State to kindly wade into this brewing face-off and if possible, embark on a surprise tour of the facility from beginning to end so as to avoid being deceived by political appointees because of selfish reasons.

But Duba reacting to the allegation on Tuesday  said "Who told them that. May be they don't have anything to do. How many office spaces are there. Don't we have our own building? what is all these trash talk. Instead of them to concentrate on their work, they are there talking.

"Nobody is moving anywhere. Information house is built  for ministry of information and  we are not going anywhere.

"Government has never thought of that any day. Newspaper is there. Radia is there. TV is there what is their problem?.

"There is no agency that we are planning to move to that place, at least not to my knowledge.  The ministry is not moving, we are are not moving anywhere.

"I'm the commissioner and I'm telling you that we are not moving anywhere. He concluded.
