Our Light Will Cover All The Nooks And Crannies of Yenagoa

The Bayelsa State Government has  once again assured that the Gas Turbine Powered Light which she said will come alive  in December, 2025,  will cover all the nooks and crannies of Yenagoa the  Bayelsa State Capital.

Speaking on Wednesday at the  project site along Elebele Road, Steve Bubagha, the Director of Operations,  Bayelsa .Electricity Company Limited  states that already, six gas turbines have arrived the state maintaining that the remaining two were on their way to the state.

Bubagha also disclosed that the process of  the   gas turbine  installation was already eighty five percent completed  adding that metering of the state will be more affordable for Bayelsans.

Bubagha said:" Virtually, every nook and cranny of Yenagoa will  be a  beneficiary of what we  are doing. For now, we have six turbines. We are expecting the remaining two. It is a total of eight gas turbines. In  few days time,  the remaining will come.

"We are progressing seriously at this stage and  we are about locating the turbines properly based on the dimensions We are progressing enormously and after that, we  will start installing the accessories and we will have a full blown turbine whenever you come back to this place.

He said that the moment the installation is fully completed  "we will have a pre -commission and I know that the governor has been airing his views in the public  about  when the light will come on  and you don't even need to know that date from me.

"We are about 95% done with the electrical reticulation of the power system with our 33kv network. After installation  which  is the balancing of the  plant,  we will start the installation of the turbines.

"We have achieved up to this level. What we have is installation only. We should be able to say that we have achieved 85% success.

"The governor has consistently said that Bayelsa will pay for the light.  And so if the governor who has gone this far to make sure that this project is  installed in Yenagoa, it then means that he will also make sure that everything will be done to make sure that we have meters.  It is even with meter that you will enjoy the facility."

Speaking earlier,  Wisdom Ikuli, Technical Adviser on Media and Public Affairs,  praised Governor  Douye Diri for fulfilling his promise of lighting up the state adding that when the state is lighted up, many businesses will resonate in Bayelsa State.

He said that Bayelsans should be ready to pay for the light adding that even in Aso rock, people pay for electricity.

Ikuli said:"  By January this year, this place was bushy  and swampy,  not even cleared by January this year.  But between January and now, you can see what is happening.

"The power that  the governor promised  that before the end of this year, there will be  twenty for hours interrupted electricity in Bayelsa State  is gradually coming  to reality. And we are going to get a multiplier effect  and  multitude of people will come into Bayelsa State and businesses will boom.

He said that ordinarily,  every business man  wants to locate where there  power adding that "people will relocate from the  neighboring states to Bayelsa. Hospitality business will boom  improve  and we must continue to thank the miracle governor.

Ilu thanked Governor Douye Diri for procuring two aircrafts for the state maintaining that "in the next few months, power will come  and you will see that this is not audio project.

He said that  power was a general problem in this country but  maintained that "we are very sure of power  with Governor Diri and that is in consonance with the Governor's mantra   of this administration which is Assured Prosperity.

Supporting Governor Diri  that the light will be paid for, Ikuli asked " Is there any part of this country where power is free?  Even people  in Aso Rock pay for electricity.

"The gas is bought  and so from the owners of the gas  they buy it and transform to electricity. We know how much we pay on fuel.  We buy Solar Panels, Diesel and all of that.  In this case we are talking about an insignificant  amount considering how much we pay on fuel and all of that.

"So for me it is a new dawn. Remember that light is life and Governor Douye Diri has come to give us light and God is using him to give us new life."
