Engineer Obuebite Achieves Global Recognition in Engineering

 












Engineer (Mrs.) Amalate Ann Obuebite, PhD, FNSE, has been honoured with a prestigious Engineering Educator Award by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE)  thereby giving  a remarkable showcase of Nigerian talent on the international stage.


Obuebite, who is an  educator at the Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State, was given the award during the SWE International Conference at New Orleans, on October 25th, 2025.


 As part of the conference proceedings, Dr. (Mrs.) Obuebite delivered an impactful keynote address titled “Strategies for Effective Women Empowerment in the Energy Industry.


Her presentation not only showcased her expertise but reinforced her commitment to advancing women’s roles in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, marking her as a vocal advocate for diversity and inclusion on a worldwide scale.


The Engineering Educator Award, known for its rigorous selection criteria, recognises women who have devoted 10 to 20 years of significant contributions to the engineering profession while demonstrating a minimum of five years of exemplary instructional excellence. 


Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Obuebite’s selection as the sole African recipient of this distinguished award in 2025, amidst a competitive pool of candidates worldwide, represents a groundbreaking achievement for Nigeria and the entire African continent.
