2027 Presidential Election:Tinubu Supporters Advise Good luck Not to Contest

 

       

The Progressive Network for Tinubu (PNT) a support  group for   campaigning for the re election of President  Bola TInubu, has advised former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan not to contest the 2027 presidential election.

The Director General of the PNT, Pastor Olumide Obadele, stated that apart from legal encumbrances, Jonathan should maintain his status as a statesman without undergoing the election process.

Speaking during the inauguration of local government structures across the 18 LGAs in Ondo State, Obadele said the opposition political parties, including the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), are on life support and may die anytime, and any candidate contesting under the parties, including Jonathan, would fail in the election.

According to him, Jonathan is constitutionally barred from having been sworn in as president twice; when he succeeded late President Umaru Yar'Adua and when he won reelection as president in 2011.

 "I am sure Jonathan will not run at the end of the day. I think the Constitution of Nigeria is clear about it, and there is no point trying to twist the Constitution. I know some people are challenging him in court, and I think if he wants to be a true elder statesman, he should just stay away from that attempt, because I think at the end of the day, he is going to be embarrassed and rubbished. So, I think he will not run at the end of the day; that is my strong belief.

"I don’t know under which party it is, PDP or ADC? I tell you, all these opposition parties are on life support. I do not think any party here in Nigeria today can just come up and say it wants to run with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. For me, 2027 is a done deal."

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Obadele reaffirmed that the group’s primary mandate is to ensure the successful re-election of President Tinubu by deepening political engagement at the grassroots.

He emphasized that PNT remains committed to reaching non-voting citizens and increasing voter participation across Ondo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, “The best thing that happened to Nigeria is the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who came into power at a time when the nation was on the brink of collapse.”

Addressing the newly inaugurated coordinators, Obadele charged them to intensify mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.

His words “Our target is to move from 67 percent voter support in the last election to 95 percent in 2027. That is why we are starting early — to ensure that by the time INEC declares the election open, our people are fully prepared and ready to vote for President Tinubu."
