Examine The Actions Of King Solomon Edi: IHRPS Tells Governor Diri

 

A Forum known as the International Human Rights Protection Services (IHRPS) has called on the Bayelsa State  Governor Douye Diri to examine the activities of the His Royal Majesty, Solomon Ebifatei Edi, the Paramount Ruler of Koluama Clan in Southern Ijaw Local Government of Bayelsa State.

In a Petition  that the group sent to the Governor  of Bayelsa State and copied the Assistant Inspector General of Zone 16, Bayelsa State and the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State, it accused the King  taking  actions  which are capable of disrupting peace and violating some human rights in the clan.

The  Petition  which was signed by Ambassador Dr. Charles Omni, Special Envoy for West Africa, (IHRPS)  and made available to this reporter on Sunday in Yenagoa, alleged that the King rules Koluama Clan like his personal empire  stating that he rules without any guiding constitution or accountability structure.

The Petition stated complains from members of the clan regarding the monarch’s  alleged imposition of non-indigenes as traditional rulers in communities outside their origins; a specific case being the alleged  installation of Lloyd Sese.

The Petition  read that Lloyd Sese is  an indigene of Foropa Community and therefore  is not supposed to be installed as  the Paramount Ruler of Kalaowei-Ama, despite the presence of Innocent Kalaowei Richard who has been recognized by locals as the legitimate Paramount Ruler of the community.

The IHRPS further accused HRM Edi of   claiming that  there was  conflict in Tamazo Community to discredit its Paramount Ruler, HRH Diepreye Amadein, due to personal feud.

The group also alleged  that the monarch has been exchanging job slots for money citing  the brutal killings of Kuronimiyefa Joseph Orumo and Baby Akpaingolo in the clan which  alleged that the monarch failed to act or speak up.

The international rights group warned that failure to act promptly could lead to a total breakdown of law and order in the region urging stakeholders to act swiftly to restore justice and order  in Koluama Clan.

The letter reads: It has come to the attention of International Human Rights Protection Services that HRM Solomon Ebifatei  Edi, the Traditional Head of Koluama Clan in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area Bayelsa State is currently undermining the peace and stability within that atmosphere.

" That amidst serious complains, this monarch is carrying on his traditional duties without any laid down roles embodied in the constitution. 

"It is also the complains of the subjects of Koluama Clan that the clan head has been allowing non- indigenes of  other community to be  Paramount Rulers in  the  community.

For instance, he  encouraged  and partook in the installation of  Lloyd Sese as the Paramount Ruler of  Kalaowei-ama even though the community  is having Kalaowei Richard as the authentic  Paramount Ruler where as Lloyd Sese is from Foropa Community.

"That there has report that this monarch has been disseminating false reports  that there is war in Tamazo Community because he is having issues with the Paramount Ruler of the community HRH, Diepreye  Amadei.

 

" That there are serious allegations of collusion with company staff operating in the area to exploit local resources for financial gains resulting in numerous protests and the shutting down of oil operations while job slots were  the traded for money.

 "There are also claims of cover up relating to murder cases of  kuromeneyefa Joseph Orumo  and baby Akpaingolo which further violates international human rights laws.

 "We urgently call on the Inspector General of Police of Nigeria and the Executive  Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri to  look into all these allegations and take appropriate  appropriate action in accordance with the laws of the land."

 King Solomon Edi could not be reached for reaction as at the time of filling in this report as his phone rang out without any response.

 Also a text message sent to his line was not responded to but Lloyd Sese, in his reaction   on phone said  that the Traditional  Stool is  not  hereditary

 He said:"Diepreye Amadein is saying that I'm not from Koluama that I'm from Foropa that the King is imposing me on Kalaowei- ama people. 

"My father's father is from Foropa while my mother  is from Koluama and I was born and brought up in Koluama so I can't see the reason why somebody will come and tell me that I'm not a Koluama person.

"I think at the appropriate time, we will know who is  lying. In Koluama, as long as you are a native of that community and if you are doing well, you will be elected to hold any office in the clan.
