Bayelsa Electricity Company Promises To Deliver Power Project On Record Time

 

Bayelsa Electricity Company Limited (BEC Ltd), has once again  assured that it will  deliver the  Gas Turbines Power  Project within it's  promised timeline which is around December this year.

To this effect, the company has intensified effort to prepare ground for  the installation of the newly acquired 60 Megawatts Gas fired Power Plant.

Olice Kemenanabo, Managing-Director of the firm taking journalists round the  Gas Turbine project   situated at Elebele on Thursday stated that when  the Gas Turbines are finally installed, Yenagoa metropolis will be powered thereby removing the current epileptic power situation in the state.

Kemenanabo, who was represented by Engineer Steve Bubagha, Director of Operations of the company, noted that the State Governor, Douye Diri can be likened to light as he meant every promise he has made on powering the state, especially Yenagoa and its environs on or before the end of this year.

Kemenanabo however  hinted that the firm and the  host community (Elebele), enjoy a very cordial working relationship,  disclosing that the host community has been very cooperative and has continued to synergize with the firm for  the timely completion of the project.

He said:"You can see for yourselves as  we tour  the project site of the gas turbines today. Already works on this site has reached advance stage. These buildings you see here are part of the gas fired turbine power project.

"As we speak, we have started installing new poles and towers that will enable us distribute power from the Gas Turbines to Bayelsans as promised by the State Governor,  Douye Diri.

"And so with the level of work already done, we are  very optimistic that going by the governor's promise,  we are going to complete  the installation of the new 60 Megawatt Gas  Turbines and supply electricity to Bayelsans by the end of this year.

"We have taken positions where the Turbines will be installed here. We have two Turbines(60 Megawatts) that are coming. They will be installed. Also the gas pipeline. Everything is fully prepared and we are very optimistic that in or before  December, we are going to evacuate energy from this environment.

This project is conceived and being implemented by the state. No input from the federal government. The only issue we have with the federal is environmental impact assessment and we  are almost through with it.

"Elebele, the host community of the project has been very cooperative. In fact, Elebele describes itself as Bayelsa's most peaceful community. And so we have  been enjoying a cordia relationship with the people and leadership of the community."

Also speaking, Wisdom Ikuli, Technical Adviser to the State Governor on Media (Print) and Public Affairs,  likened Governor Diri's infrastructural project  development to those executed by late Chief Melford Okilo in the old Rivers State. 

Upon the completion of the project, Ikuli maintained  that the state would be better for  off assuring  that  business men  and women will relocate from other parts of the country to the state.

He noted that the governor's giant strides were not limited to electricity alone, but in all facets of his 'ASSURED Prosperity' administration.

" People from the federal ministry of Environment have already come for the impact environmental assessment and today we  are here to update Bayelsans on  how far the state government has gone concerning the power situation in the state.

"The governor promised early this year that the state will have uninterrupted electricity and he swung into action and today we can see the progress of the work.

"You can see that this a governor that doesn't talk but acts. So I describe governor Douye Diri as the reincarnated Melford Obiene Okilo because all the great  works that Okilo did, I can see Governor Douye Diri doing them.

 "That is to tell you that we have a governor that is visionary and that is how Okilo was. Douye Diri is a student of Okiloism school of thought and that is why you can see these  kind of things.

"I can assure that before the end of this year as the director has assured us, Bayelsa will have uninterrupted electricity. You can see we are not just  talking and he has paid for all of these.

 "It is our prayer that Bayelsans should continue to support him because  the impact  that this project will make, cannot be quantified so governor Diri is bringing life to Bayelsans, the governor is a people's governor. 

"This is one governor that is seen that doesn't live a different life from average Bayelsans. He is not alienated from the masses so I know that power will be very affordable in Bayelsa State. The impact of this project will grow the economy of this state."
