Maintain A Peaceful Atmosphere In Your Domains: Ekomaru Urges Traditional Rulers.

 

The  Deputy Governor of Imo State, Chinyere Ekomaru  has called on traditional rulers and other community leaders in the state to ensure that a  peaceful atmosphere is maintained  in thier various communities.

She stressed that it took the courage, wisdom and resilience of Governor Hope Uzodimma to make  Imo state in the peaceful, progressive and united state it is today.

The Deputy Governor made this call recently  in Owerri during a visit of HRH Eze David Onuegwunwoke and his Umuibe clan,  Akwakuma, to her office, at the Government House, Owerri.

A statement by Dr. Uzopuo Charles Nnamdi, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Imo State reads that the deputy governor while congratulating the new Eze and his people, urged them to ensure a harmonious relationship  in their community; see to the protection of public infrastructures and assist in curbing social vices, especially, among the youths.

The Deputy Governor also challenged the Eze and other traditional rulers to help educate their subjects on civic responsibilities, protection and preservation of our cultural,  traditional heritage and promotion of moral discipline in the communities.

She said: "As a traditional ruler, the Governor has empowered you to head not only your traditional and cultural institution but to also lead the community policing as the chairman. So, you must collaborate with the government, relevant stakeholders and the security agencies to flush out criminals from your community.

"Having received your staff of office with 61 others recently, please, adhere to all the rules and regulations guiding your office, heed, especially, to the Governor's directives on traditional rulership, be above board in your dealings, rule your people right from your palace in the community and do not be a 'distant Eze', ruling his people from the city or diaspora.

"Our Governor is iconic, a father and a good man, who means well for us. If all the traditional rulers and other office holders in the state will look up to his leadership style, the Imo of our dreams will become a reality in our generation."

Earlier in his address, HRH Eze David Onuegwunwoke, who is the Eze Udo 111 of Akwakuma, expressed the gratitude and solidarity of his people to the Governor and Government of Imo for considering him worthy to lead his people of Akwakuma.

He appreciated the critical infrastructures being put in place in Imo state, especially, in their community by Governor Hope Uzodimma and asked God to continue to guide and protect him.

Deacon Charles Ukawuike, a prominent leader in the community, confessed that their people of Akwakuma are the major beneficiaries of Governor Hope Uzodimma's Shared Prosperity's Administration. 

He said that they were feeling the impact of government like never before and pledged their unflinching support to the 3-R Government, while appreciating the Deputy Governor, who holds the title of Adakaibeya of Umuibe Akwakuma, for her warm reception.

The Principal Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, Pastor Chris Akushie and other principal officers of the Deputy Governor's Office were present at the visit.
