Koku- Obiyai Calls On Bayelsans To Key Into E-Ticketing.

 

The Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy,  Bayelsa State,  Ebiuwou Koku- Obiyai has  called on Bayelsans to key into the electronic revenue collection introduced  by the state government  which she said has increased the internally generated revenue of the state.

She said that as March ending, the internally generated revenue of Bayelsa State increased to N5 billion naira.

Koku- Obiyai also disclosed  that  the prosperity administration has commissioned series of projects that will benefit all in the state. 

Speaking on Friday in Yenagoa during a transparency briefing for the months of January and February, 2025, the Information Commissioner maintained that the state  also commissioned so many projects especially during the fifth year anniversary of the prosperity administration.

 She explained:" I'm also delighted to say that our government is struggling to increase our Internally Generated Revenue  of  the state and to the glory of God, at the beginning of the year, it was 1.2 billion naira but we have over  5 billion naira now.

 "We want to encourage every Bayelsan to key into the e- ticketing  because we believe that it is the way to go.

"Our administration's commitment to transparency is unwavering. Today's transparency briefing is to share our thoughts on what we have done.

"We have commissioned series  of projects on health and in other sectors including the service. 

"There was  also commissioning of a  brand new Secretariat and we all know the importance of all of that as a state." 

Speaking earlier, the technical adviser  to the governor of  Bayelsa State on Treasury and Accounts Timipre  Seipuolo,  said that the internally generated revenue for February was N3.92 billion naira  adding that by the time transparency briefing will be held for March,  about N5 billion naira IGR will be announced.

"Our IGR as at February, 2025, was 3.92 billion naira. That was a result of an expansion basis in the IGR collection and other activities that the revenue board is putting up in the state.

"The  pay as you earn tax(PAYE)  from civil servants  has also helped  to increase   the IGR in the  state because of minimum wage  and other approaches that the state government has made.

" All the road projects  are now concurrently going on."

 Seipuolo  also.disclosed that the closing balance for the state for the month of  January was N178,942,762 while for February ending, the state had a closing balance of N158,52 billion naira.
