The Honourable Commissioner for Sports Development, Bayelsa State, Hon. Daniel Igali has agreed to support the state’s contingent as they move to Uyo for a sports festival.
Recall that the state has headef to Uyo ahead of the Niger Delta Sports Festival that will be taking place from April 1-9, 2025.
Igali commended the NDDC for organizing the event, highlighting its uniqueness.
He conveyed Governor Douye Diri’s blessings to the athletes, urging them to compete with integrity.
While emphasizing development over medals, he assured that Bayelsa’s athletes are in Uyo to compete strongly.
“Unlike other sports festivals where some states bring 900 athletes and others 300, this festival ensures fair competition by allowing equal contingent sizes,” he noted.
“This is a great opportunity for exposure, and we hope to use it to prepare for the National Sports Festival in Ogun next month.”
“We aim to uphold our state’s sporting reputation and give a good account of ourselves.”
Igali wished the contingent success, encouraging them to be proud ambassadors of Bayelsa and the Ijaw Nation.
