Moses Advises Bayelsa Youths To Take Advantage Of The Internet.

 

Comrade Atti Moses, the convener of the  Bayelsa Leadership Award, has advised Baylesa Youths to take advantage of the Internet and the cyber space to better their lives.

Speaking on Wednesday in Yenagoa during an Award ceremony to commemorate this year’s youth day,  he said there are  so many opportunities in the cyber space adding that youths can eke out a living through  the internet.

He said he was  overwhelmed by the organic love that that he has been   enjoying from the Bayelsa State youth community.

 Moses said that the first edition of Bayelsa youth leadership award was birthed in 2016 adding that  since then, he has had  massive turn up and support by the youth of Bayelsa State.  

He said: “The theme for this year specializes on areas where youth can gain from the cyber space. Here, the youth community can be aware of the merits and demerits of the internet where they can eke out and sustain a living for themselves through the cyber space.”

"The Bayelsa youth leadership award is an initiative that is geared towards rewarding excellence and creativity of youth in the aspect of youth development especially in the area of entrepreneurship, agriculture, politics and governance.”

Samuel Numonengi, the Chairman of Bayelsa State Chapter of Nigerian Union of Journalists,  in his remarks  advised Bayelsa Youths to embrace Education advising those believing that education is a scam to change their mentality.

 Numonengi advised them to first of all get education before engaging in any other thing.

 Numonegi who was also a recipient of the Award thanked the organizers for finding him worthy of the Award maintaining that the recognition shows that people were seeing what he was doing.

Other award recipients are Tony Adams, Gifted Natus,Selina  Youpele, Kenneth Adolphus Biogbo, Tokoni Peter Igoin, Perekeme  Fidelis Perekeme, Buckito Milano, Jonathan Lokpobiri, Reigneth Awudumu, Padeware Aladeh, and Wisdom Kieribo.

Others in the honorary  category are Prof Nimibofa Ayawei, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, Prince Ebitimi Angbare,  Chief Robert Enogha, ACP Ebipamowei Okoyen, Didi Esther Wilson Jack, Yonye Emmanuel Isenah and Munalayefa Edwin Gidson.

 

He said:” My advice to the youths will always be to do the right thing at the right time. Once you do that, you will excel.  I wouldn’t say education is a scam. No matter where you find yourself, you can be educated.

“I have seen lawyers who are journalists, but the first thing is get education and follow your dream. If your dream is to be a fashion designer, get education first and then come back to follow your dream because there might be a time you will need that your certificate that you call a scam to excel.”

  “I feel very elated for being recognized, that shows that people are seeing what we are doing.  This will spur me to do better than what I have done. I thank them for the ward and I commend them for recognizing me.”

Also speaking, Cherish Daniel Markson another Award recipient who was honoured because of her academic prowess encouraged the girl child to pursue education with every bit of seriousness.

Represented by Jenifer Agadabiri, she thanked the organizers of the award for finding her worthy for the award adding that her passion for education has spurred her to where she is today.

She said: “Women deserve more opportunities.  I urge the government to look into this. But as a female, it is very important that you get educated. I don’t subscribe to the adage that says that women’s education ends in kitchen.”

 “My advice is that no matter what, get educated because it will help you in future. My advice to the girl children, no matter the pressure, get educated. Education is the key.”
