New Ministry: No Need Creating More Ministries:INC. it Is Created For Political Reasons: IYC

 

 

 

 

 As President Bola Tinubu, creates the Ministry of Livestock Development, the Ijaw National Congress National Publicity Secretary, Ezonebi Oyakemeagbegha reacting to the development said: ‘Our own take is that, there are some policies that we will just allow and watch. May be as president, he has taken that decision.

 

“We don’t also believe that, it is the way forward. The promises and some of the policies that they are taking have not favoured us. It is over a year that he came on board, we have not seen any improvement in the economy of the Nigerian state.

 

“The creation of a new ministry, I don’t know how it is going to help. The number of ministries ordinarily, some of us see that they are too many and of recent there have been outcry because of cost of governance and we had said, reduce some structures. And now we are hearing about creating another ministry.

 

“We don’t know for what reason that it is being done. The ministries are too many. We have Ministry of Agriculture which ordinarily should have taken care of that.  A department should have been created if at all, there is no department for that purpose but getting a minister for that and a permanent secretary is going to be cost effective.

 

“We shouldn’t be doing things just for political purposes. The things we need to do right now  to see that the economy will be transformed, that is what we are calling for and not  creating more ministries which will increase the cost of governance.

 

 

 Also, the National Publicity Secretary of the Ijaw Youth Council, Bredford Berefa stated that the creation of the ministry was   just part of governmental bureaucracy to soft pedal the agitation from the North adding that there has been agitations in some quarters that the presidency does not put in cognizance the plights of the northern caliphate.

 

He continued: “However, this new ministry created is laughable. It is to pacify the curiosity of the northern people to see how they can also work together to achieve a political agenda. All of these are just politics.

 

“In the federal Ministry of Agriculture, there is department of livestock.  How has the department been faring. What is the significance of now single handedly bringing out the ministry of livestock?

 

 “We from the South also have dog farm, ram farm, fish farm and all of that. I hope that the ministry will accommodate all of these live stocks.

 

“For me, will it necessarily solve the herders and farmers clash? That clash is a political weapon that they are using to instigate or further entrench insecurity on the Nigerian State especially in the South South. This herder’s farmers clash has been for long and it is reducing our population. It is causing severe insecurity so the best to do is rather than creating a new ministry, they should ensure that the department of livestock is very functiona.

 

“The President has his reason for creating the ministry but however we have concern, we hope this is not another political gimmicks to satisfy the curiosity and not have the impact that it deserves.

 

“As IYC, we are watching very keenly and we are taking our security very securely particularly our farmers. It is very important that we protect our local farmers from invasion by these herdsmen. What the Nigerian state needs is to the political will to end herders’ farmers clash rather than  creating another government bureaucracy that will be used  to further spend tax payers money on frivolities.
