CLO Elects New ExcoBayelsa

  

The Civil Liberties Organisation, CLO, Bayelsa State branch has elected a new executives to pilot the affairs of the organisation in the next two years.

The election of the new leadership was conducted during the Annual General Meeting, AGM, of the state branch held at the Environmental Rights Action, ERA, Office  Yenagoa Bayelsa State on Saturday.

The newly elected executives include, Comrade David West, State Chairman, Barr George Aderigha, Vice Chairman, Barr. Ken Okorodas, Secretary, Barr Ebikebuna Aluzu, Legal Adviser and Comrade Saviour Olugbo, Research Secretary.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, ELECO, Chief Nengi James, who declared the results and winners of the election, said the position of chairmanship was keenly contested with the winner decided by a 'Yes or No ballot 'after the two candidates were tied with the same number of votes.

Declaring that there was no winner or vanguish, Chief James urged the new exco to be committed and dedicated to the visions and mission of CLO.

In his remarks, the South -South Zonal Chairman of CLO, Sir Karl Uchegbu represented by Comrade Alagoa Morris, charged the new excos to continue with the zeal, dedication, commitment regardless of gender to ensure that victory is assured in all cases, adding that to whom much is given much is expected.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected CLO Bayelsa State branch Chairman, Comrade David West expressed gratitude to the members for the mandate and expressed the resolve of the new leadership to continue with the selfless service to humanity which CLO is known for.

He said: "We will not relent, this is a selfless service we are doing for humanity without any financial inducement but because we have love in what we are doing and believe in it . We will be always be there for society.

"It is our mission and objectives to ensure that human rights is adequately protected and again it is also our mission to see that good governance is there for the people of the society.  

"So for us, we are going to sacrifice ourselves to see that human rights and all other issues that needs societal attention is given adequate attention.and more so at any given time that our attention is been drawn, we will always be there and available to carry out those tasks."
