Media Group Honours Dickson With Leadership Award.

 

Senator  Henry Seriake Dickson has  commended  a media group   known as Arewa Journalists Forum for honouring him  with a leadership award.

Senator Dickson representing the people of Bayelsa West Senatorial District at the Green Chambers  assured the media group that he will be available  fro them anytime the need arises.

He however pleaded with the  Journalists   to always  make deliberate efforts at keeping to the tenets of the profession and shun anything  that will go contrary to it 

He said  " I thank you so much for finding me worthy of the honourand I promise to see the recognition as a further call to service for  humanity, good governance and democracy." 

" I assure you of my readiness  make myself available whenever my advice and patronage are needed. I also use this occasion to appeal to you  to make deliberate efforts at keeping to the tenets of the   respectable profession and shun anything to the contrary.

Handing over the plaque  to him at Abuja on Friday to Senator Dickson, the president of the group Hassan Galadima said AJF decided to honour Senator Seriake Dickson for his sterling contributions to democracy, good governance and service to humanity. 

AJF, while bestowing the award on said he was singled out for the honour due to  his  sincere contributions on national issues adding that  the honour was done to spur him to promote sustainable democracy, good governance and  national building. 

The group also expressed joy at Dickson's acceptance of becoming one of their patrons as they see in him  as a true Nigerian whose patriotism is never in question.

The president said "We are also using this medium to hail  your abilities in managing people and Bayelsa State politically especially how you manage people and provide leaderships  with tolerance. This should be an examples to others on what godfatherism should be. 

 "We of the Arewa Journalists Forum are here to present our plaque in recognition of your contributions to democracy, good governance and service to humanity.

"We are  indeed grateful to you  for accepting to become patron. Words alone cannot describe how grateful we are  at this moment. But you can be rest assured of our continued support in all your endeavors. Feel free to involve us in all your activities because from now on, we see you as one of our own.

Also speaking, the  Secretary General.of AJF,  Abraham Awodi  maintained that  the Award of lifetime Achievements  was conferred on Senator Dickson by a team of National Executive Members of the forum because of his outstanding success recorded as a member of House of Rep, two-time Executive Governor of Bayelsa State and as  Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Other Executive members of the forum present were Ruth Choji, Treasurer, Bala Musa, Organizing Secretary, and Yohana Gyang, Provost.

Recall that the forum is an umbrella  body of Northern Nigeria Journalists  aimed at promoting Peace, Security and Development across the Country.

The group which was  formed in 2007 at the Arewa House, has over one thousand members in almost all major local and international media houses.
