Hensard University Toru-Orua in Sagbama Local Government, Bayelsa State is set to resume her first Academic Session on the 29nth of April, 2024.
This was revealed at the weekend in a statement signed by the university's Public Relations Officer, Chief Sony Neme which stated that a two-day orientation programme will be held on April 29nth and 30th, 2024 for the 147 pioneer students admitted into its Foundation School and degree programmes.
According to the statement, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dileep Kumar urged the students to be around from Saturday, April 27, 2024, to enable them familiarize with the environment and the university’s rules and regulations.
Academic activities the statement reads would start immediately after the two days orientation adding that the students are unique as pioneers and that the university looks forward to them being the first beneficiaries of the Hensard advantage.
The VC added that the institution is built on a very strong foundation with His Excellency Senator Henry Seriake Dickson (CON), founder of ivory tower, as the Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.
He wants the student's to also have it at the back of their minds that Hensard alumni will continue to receive mentorship and support in creating their own enterprises after graduation through the Hensard Business Support Programme.
He further stated that the institution will also acts as a global, open marketplace of ideas where student's are free to challenge notions, presumptions or customs, cultures, traditions and biases to advance their pursuit of new knowledge and the advancement of society, as well as increase cultural knowledge by providing opportunity to study languages, cultures, the arts, and the ramifications of social, political, economic, and technological development.
The statement reads in part "Most of the pioneer students are on partial scholarship to cover their tuition fees. Only last week, one of the partners of Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation, which established the University, gave each of the pioneer students grants of N400,000 to cover some of their expenses. In line with our mission and vision, we are pleased to announce that Hensard University is set to walk its talks, as an institution with a difference".
