Bayelsa Assembly Confirms Commissioner Nominees

 

The Bayelsa State House of Assembly on Thursday screened and confirmed 13  commissioner nominees sent to Bayelsa State House  Assembly last week  by Governor Douye Diri.

The nominees were  Moses Teibowei,  Peter Hafah, Maxwell Ebibai, Ebieri Jones,  Dambo Biriyai,  Ayibakipreye Broderick, George Flint, Komoko Kharim, Perepuighe Biewari, Elizabeth Bidei,  Michael Magbisa, Gentle Emelah and Ebiuwou Koku Obiyai.

The remaining nominee that didn't show up was Daniel Igali

The nominees where all quizzed based on their areas of specialization and previous positions.

In his response, Maxwell Ebibai  who was the immediate Commissioner of finance suggesting what he will do differently, in other to boost the  internally generated revenue, he suggested that the three senatorial roads should be taken to the sea, in order to connect the hinter lands.

Also Teibowei  making  his submission  said roads and electricity are all important to the lives of people adding that  it will encourage small scale business and woo investors. 

 Meanwhile two former lawmakers, Gentle Emelah and  Ebiuwou Koku Obiyai, were asked to take a bow and leave as a privilege for ex-legislators. 

Six former Commissioners were returned as more will join latter.

The deputy Speaker, Michael Ogbere, and the Leader of the House, Monday Bubou-Obolo, advised the commissioner-designates to be team players, operate an all-inclusive policy and support the governor to achieve set goals. 

They were also urged to bring their wealth of experience to drive the policy direction of the government and work closely with the Assembly to improve Bayelsa.
