The National Association of Seadogs (NAS) also known as Pyrate Confraternity at the weekend donated over 3000 Sanitory Pads to women and girls in the Tungbo Community of Bayelsa State.
Using the event to mark the 2024 International Women's Day, NAS said it was to improve their hygiene and overall well-being.
The Menstrual Hygiene and Economic Empowerment by NAS, Oxbow Marino Deck, was carried out in collaboration with the Late Chief Egberi Binafeigha Foundation.
Speaking at the event, Tim Egboneje, who represented the National Association of Seadogs Oxbow Marino Deck, Egboneje underdcored the importance of educating the girl child adding that educating the girl child positively impacts on an entire community.
He encouraged the women in attendance to recognize their importance in every aspect of life.
Representing the Late Chief Egberi Binafeigha Foundation, Timiebi Binafeigha emphasized his late father's belief in the education and empowerment of the girl child. He expressed the importance of continuing his father's legacy through such humanitarian efforts.

Zebedee Loveday who conducted an advocacy session on menstrual hygiene, focusing on the importance of proper hygiene practices and providing valuable information to the women and girls highlighted the significance of enabling women to reach their full potential in all spheres of life stating that women should not relent.
Sheque Lokoja, the Committee Development Chairman
who spoke on behalf of Tungbo Community, expressed gratitude to the National Association of Seadogs Oxbow Marino Deck and the Late Chief Egberi Binafeigha Foundation for their kind gesture.
He also appealed for the continuation of similar activities in their community, acknowledging the positive impact they have on the livelihoods of the women and girls of Tungbo.
