On behalf of my humble self, wife, children, grandchildren and the good people of Abukubulou Quarters, Toru- Ndoro Town, Ekeremor Local Government Council, I sincerely congratulate His Excellencies, Senator Douye Diri and Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for their successful Inauguration/ Swearing- in Ceremony as Governor and Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State respectively for second Term.
The presence of all stakeholders and leaders of thought from within and outside Nigeria is a strong attestation of acceptance of Governor Douye Diri's positive exhibition of Inter-personal relationship, leadership qualities and management principles across political divide.
For instance, the Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON who was in attendance and also represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling party as well as the President of Liberia, His Excellency, Joseph Boakai ably represented by his Vice, His Excellency, Jeremiah Koung is another international recognition and acceptance of Diri's prosperity government and achievements in his first tenure.
Internationally recognized former Presidents of Nigeria in persons of Chief Aremu Matthew Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR and Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCON, GCFR with his amiable and lovely wife, Her Excellency, Dame Patience Jonathan fondly called Mama Peace were physically present to grace the occasion.
Distinguished Sen. Henry Seriake Dickson fondly addressed as Ofurumapepe who is the immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State but now the Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District and who by God's grace and mercy broke the perennial political problem of second tenure among Bayelsa State Governors was conspicuously present to add colour to the occasion.
Recall that before Sen. (Bar.) Henry Seriake Dickson, no Governor of Bayelsa State had second term.
Chief Diepreye Solomon Peters Alamieyeseigha the first civilian Governor of the State could not. Dr. Goodluck who succeeded him was graciously picked as running mate to late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua as he was preparing for his second term election.
One time Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Chief Timipre Silver could not also had his second term. The trend continued till the era of Henry Seriake Dickson. There and then Bayelsa Restoration Prayer Team was established in the Office of Governor where fervent prevailing prayers were made every morning and every last Friday of the month and the yoke broke.
No doubt, the devil and its human agents tried their best through so many litigations but God by His mercy prevailed. So Dr. Henry Seriake Dickson became the first Governor who finished his first tenure, did election, won, sworn in as Governor for the second term, finished strong and handed over power to Sen. Douye Diri.
Governor Douye Diri is the second Governor that is being Sworn in for second term in Bayelsa State because he judiciously followed the good legacies of his predecessor in bringing the worship of God into governance which include sustaining the Bayelsa State Annual Thanksgiving Law, Morning Devotion in Government House, Monthly Fasting & Prayer, Building of Worship Centre in his home Town etc
It is worthy to note this also that Governor Dickson was the first to have a record of being able to manage and maintained a cordial relationship with his Deputy Governor Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah Rtd, the other two Arms of Government at the State level which are the Legislature and Judiciary.
The same with Douye Diri. He continued in promoting cordial, peaceful and reburst relationship first with his Deputy - Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo who was a very faithful and dependable Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure during the Restoration Government of Seriake Dickson and secondly with members of the State House of Assembly and the Judiciary respectively.
Significantly, Governor Diri's continuing with Operation Dou - Akpo (Peaceful Life), a Security Outfit of his predecessor is something very remarkable to remember and talk about.
Consequently, Bayelsa State continued to be regarded as one of the peaceful and safest States in Nigeria which has greatly contributed to all round development activities.
The ceremony which took place at Samson Siasia Sport Complex at the State Capital - Yenagoa attracted many other dignitaries including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon.Tajudeen Abbas; and some governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who accompanied the Vice President of Nigeria.
Others in attendance were Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, Mohammed Bago of Niger State, Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazak of Kwara State, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, Hyacinth Alia of Benue State and Uba Sani of Kaduna State.
Former Senate Presidents Bukola Saraki and Adolfus Wabara who is now Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees as well as other national and state leaders of the party were present
I will not fail to mention that one of our best brain not only in Niger Delta Oil/ Gas rich Region but in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large in person of Amb.(Dr.) Godknows Boladei Igali, former Ambassador to the Scandinavian, federal Permanent Secretary, Secretary to Bayelsa State Government, Honorary Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Niger Delta Affairs and current Alternate Chairman of Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Nigeria Universities and Pro Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Akure was equally present at the Inauguration/ Swearing in Ceremony.
I want to specially pray for His Excellency, Sen. Douye Diri, his lovely wife - the first lady, Dr. Gloria Douye Diri who of course is playing a vital role in the prosperity government, his Deputy, Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo a more prosperous and successful second term by God's grace.
