Rivers Crisis: Impeachment Plot Against Fubara An Invitation To Chaos,DIDF

 

As  the Impeachment Plot against Rivers State Governor Similanyi Fubara thickens,  a group known as Delta Ijaw Development Forum, has advised  all those behind the plot to retrace their steps and have a rethink.

The group stated that the ongoing impeachment plot, which has since culminated into the burning of the State House of Assembly, and alleged shooting of live bullets and teargas at Governor Fubara is of great concern to the Ijaw Ethnic Nation.

In a statement by the group on Monday and signed by Chief Frederick Anesah Chairman and Hon. Prince Edumogiren Augustine, Secretary, it stated that it is pertinent to note that the Ijaw Nation with her 9 out of the 23 Local Government Areas in the State have supported and worked assiduously to enthrone successive governments led by other tribes in Rivers State without complaints nor acrimony of any kind throughout their tenures believing that "what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

 "The Ijaw Nation expects other ethnic groups in the State to extend same hand of fellowship to the Ijaw Nation by supporting Governor Fubara to pursue good governance as expected without undercutting his genuine efforts to better the lots of Rivers people. There is, however, a deliberate opening for rancor and acrimony that has led to the present state of destruction snowballing into impeachment plot by one mischief maker.

"While we agree that every ethnic nationality in the State contribute economically to its wealth, Ijaw Nation being the lead economic contributor with very high concentration of Oil and Gas should be allowed some breathe of fresh air in our tenure of governance. Our natural gift of industrial layouts and marine economy in beefing up a tourism profile can not be underestimated.

"Our position in Delta Ijaw Development Forum, (DIDF) is based on the popular Ijaw saying, "A death that kills one's brother is one that kills all." Hence, our interest as Delta Ijaws can not be different from our interest for all Ijaws worldwide.

"The ongoing attempt to impeach Governor Fubara is an invitation to chaos that may throw the relatively peaceful Rivers State into ethnic war that may ultimately consume the whole country. Therefore, we call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to call his rampaging spoiler boy to order. Please,don't say you don't know him

"The Ijaw Nation will vehemently resist any plots by our enemies to diminish us. We will not fold our arms and watch our Son, His Excellency, Governor Similanyi Fubara being bullied or impeached on trump up charges. No nation, and not even one man, can  lord it over the Ijaws that are domiciled in Rivers State. Enough is enough. The statement read.
