Bayelsa Polls: Brass/Nembe Council Of Chiefs Endorse Sylva.

 










Over Four Hundred Chiefes from Brass and Nembe Local Government Councils of Bayelsa State have endorsed the November 11 Governoship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Timipre Marlin Sylva  saying that he has all that it takes to become the Governor of the state.




The Chiefs who made the endorsement on Monday in Yenagoa  under the name of Conference of APC Chiefs stated that they endorsed  Sylva  because for them , he is well exposed and very accommodating.




Speaking at a press conference to let the world know their position in the forthcoming Bayelsa State Governorship Election, the Chiefs maintained that they were drawn from Brass,  Okoroma,  Egweama, Beletiama, Okoroba, Liama, Odioma, Okpoama kingdom, Opu - Nembe Kingdom, Nembe City, Akassa  Council of Chiefs among others.




The Chiefs said that they endorsed Sylva because  for them , there is no alternative to Timipre Sylva stating that he will remove the core Ijaw and non core Ijaw  dichotomy.






Speaking on behalf of other Chiefs, the Chairman of Opu-Nembe Council of Chiefs, Yusuo Donald Theo-Iruo  said " The Nembe traditional council of Chiefs are the highest decision making bodies in terms of political, economic and social life on behalf of their people.




" We have decided to make a political statement in respect of the forth coming gubernatorial elections in November 11,  it has become imperative for councils in these two Nembe speaking areas to make a statement and we thank the federal govenemt for giving us the opportunity to choose our own leader again in November.




"That  we the  entire Nembe nationality want to endorse and affirm that this Conference of APC  Chiefs of  Nembe/Brass local government areas have decided to adopt, affirm and endorse His Excellency, Timipre Marlin Sylva as the Candidate for these two local governments.




"We have made this affirmation that we will all go back to our communities where our councils are domiciled and  ensure that Timipre Sylva is elected. There is no alternative to Chief Timipre Sylva as far as these councils are concerned because we believe that in Timipre Sylva, the councils across these local governments and the people will have a face in the governace of this state.




 "In Timipre Sylva, we  also strongly  believe that the dividends of Democracy will go round to all the nooks and crannies not to only the Nembe speaking but to all nooks and crannies  of Bayelsa State.




"We also re-affirm our belief and strong position on Sylva haven  known him during his first tenure when he was governor. We strongly believe that for now, he is more experienced, exposed and more connected and we believe that he will take us to the Bayelsa of our dream where equity and fairness will be the hallmark of the people in Bayelsa.




"Today, we have decided to come and speak in one voice and then, we will  also direct, co-ordinate and ensure that our people vote for Sylva. Today we stand with Timipre as the governor of Bayelsa come 2023. 




"We want  to see that we will be connected to the  national through Sylva. We can't exist in isolation from the stream of nation Politics and the only sure bet that will give us this as a people is Timipre  Sylva. This is our position and it is incontestable and we must work towards achieving it.




 Also speaking, Ebi  Mathew Sonny- Goli Olofoni from  Twom Brass  said  the endorsement was  even delayed adding  that "collectively we have come together to affirm our support for him. 


He said "We are doing that because we are convinced and we believe  that he has stood the taste of time in governance, well experienced to provide the dividends of Democracy Democracy  in Bayelsa State.




 "His purpose of coming back is to ensure that there is justice, equity, love, unity in all areas of Bayelsa State. He is coming to break the yoke of core Ijaw and non core Ijaw.



 

Chief Jephthah Kalaiti Obadiah of Nembe Kingdom (Basambiri) said "My Soul, my Spirit had long cried and wept because Sylva has not received this endorsement for so many years.



 "His Aura and Energy touches the lives of our people and even beyond. He is an international name  and a movement and if Bayelsans do not take advantage of his benevolence, strength, energy and  creativity, we have lost something.
