Bayelsa Poll: INEC Delists Sylva, Deputy

 

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has removed  the name of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timpre Sylva, and his running mate from the list of candidates contesting the election.

In a statement on Tuesday by the Secretary to the Commission Mrs. Rose Oriaran-Anthony, INEC said it has been serves with the court order in respect of the nomination of the APC for the 2023 Bayelsa governorship.

The statement further added that "By virtue of provision of section 287 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the commission is bound to enforce the order of court.

"The amended list of candidate of the 2023 Bayelsa governorship election is hereby amended in pursuit of order of court served on the commission."

INEC also included the candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and his deputy, for the Imo State governorship, based on the order of court.
