Bayelsa House Of Assembly Passes Supplementary Appropriation Budget

 

The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has passed a Supplementary Appropriation Bill of #49.9billion for the year 2023. 

A breakdown of the bill shows that the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure got #39billion, Ministries of Education and Budget and Economic Planning got #4bllion each, while the Ministries of Information and Environment got #1.5billion each amongst others.

 Leading the debate in favour of the Bill, the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Monday-Bubou Edwin Obolo said additional funds are needed to complete on-going projects because of the high level of inflation, noting that in order for the government to deliver on its developmental agenda, the supplementary appropriation is imperative.

 In their separate contributions also in favour of the Bill, Honourables Bernard Kenebai, Living Mitin, Oyinke Godbless and Tare Porri submitted that as a State in dire need of Infrastructural Development, nothing can gladden the hearts of the people more than a Supplementary budget that is decidedly in favour of Capital Expenditure. 

They said such key projects like Ekeremor-Agge, Nembe-Brass and Oporoma- Angiama Roads amongst others cannot be allowed to be stalled because of the high potentials they hold for the Socio- economic growth of the State.

 In a related development, the House passed the Medical Residency Training and College of Nursing Sciences Bills.
