What was Witnessed In The Tribunal Against Ugochinyere Was A Gang Up: Imo PDP Campaign Council

 

The Imo PDP  Governorship Campaign Council has said that  what was witnessed recently  in the tribunal concerning Ugochinyere and Okeke was a gang up adding that the verdict  was only a temporary setback.

 The campaign organization therefore said that the verdict will not see the light of the day.

In a statement by the organization and signed by Prince Marshall Okafor-Anyanwu, the Secretary-General

Imo PDP  Governorship Campaign Council, it stated that it was yet to come to terms how the decision was made.

The statement read "Obviously, what we witnessed is the evidence of gang up by the undemocratic forces in Imo who want to keep the State in peril, anguish and poverty, perpetually. 

"Like most Nigerians, we were aghast at the verdict of the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Nasaraswa over the well-won victory of the Director-General of the Imo PDP 2023 Governorship Campaign Council, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere of Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency of Imo State and that of Rt. Hon. Jonas Okeke who represents Ehime/Ihitte-Uboma/Obowo at the green chamber.

"The verdicts, at best, are a travesty of justice and we are yet to come to terms as to how the court arrived at the judgement relying on a pre-election matter already put to rest by the Supreme Court, recently, which if applied does not give the challengers of our candidates any chance at all.  

"They are intimidated by the cohesion and force with which the Imo PDP Governorship Campaign Council led by Ugochinyere [a fearless social crusader and advocate for justice, equity and good governance] is moving with the support of the masses to flush them out of power and make Imo safe and secure again. But they are labouring in vein.

"To be clear, Ugochinyere and Okeke won their respective elections fair and square and their deserved victories came as a result of the implicit confidence reposed in them by their constituents. We are confident that the Appeal Court will quash the ill-fated judgement of the lower court and restore the wish of the constituents of our revered members.

"The SamJones Governorship Campaign Council is solidly behind Ugochinyere and Okeke in this trying period of their political careers. Having fought and won even stronger battles in the past, we are confident they will come out stronger from the current one.

"As a determined and courageous group with a clear agenda, we are unfazed by the futile efforts of enemies of the State to distract our focus on the core mandate of taking the State back from the oppressive grip of the Hope Uzodimma-led APC government. 

"We therefore urge ndi Imo to remain unwavering in their support for Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Rt. Hon. Jones Onyereri (PhD) to take Imo out of the dungeon.
