We Have Put All The Necessary Plans On Ground To Conduct Credible Election: Affanga.

  

The Bayelsa State New Resident Electoral Commissioner of National Independent Electoral Commission, Obo Affanga has assured that the commission has put all the necessary   things on check to make sure that the  state's November 11nth Governorship Election becomes a success.

Recall that the Bayelsa State Governorship  Election will be  coming up  in the next 65 days with the incumbent Governor, Douye Diri of PDP, Timipre Sylva of APC, Udengs Eradiri of Labour Party among other Candidates billed to slug it out on that day.

But in a news conference today at the INEC office in Yenagoa, Affanga assured all that INEC will not help any candidate to win the election adding that anybody that wants to win should go to the  voters and talk to them.

Afffanga stated that even if flood comes, the commission will devise a means to make sure that election takes place in the flood probe areas

He said "  Bayelsa election is 65 days away from today  counting down to the election. We have started the plan for the election, this  we will be one of the best  election here in Bayelsa state.

"I assure you on behalf of the team I lead in Bayelsa state is that we  will do all our best to conduct a very good election taking into cognizance of what the electoral acts says and what the guildines will be.

 

"We will not interfere in anyway to assist anyone, anybody that wants to win the election should be talking to the voters.

"On Monday 11, we will give  all  voters who have not collected their voters card an opportunity to do that and it will last for one month from September 11 to October 9nth.

"That will be at the local government offices of INEC. In wards where we have more than 500 voters cards that have not been collected, those cards will be available at the registration area centers.

"Every registration that has more than 500 cards the owners  can go  to the registration areas to collect the cards but less than 500 should go to INEC at the local government area.

"We are not only concerned about Nembe all, we are concerned about the entire state. Our plan is to roll out materials for the election in every of the eight local government area of Bayelsa. State,  in all 105 wards and in all 2244 polling units in the state.

 "We will make efforts to ensure that materials get to the location when they are supposed to and we deploy personell to those places. 

"We will do our best to ensure that all the materials get there on time, as we speak virtually all the nonsensitive materials are in all the local government where election is going to be conducted.

"Sensitive materials will arrive and then we move them to the locations.  What we will do is to ensure that we move early enough to get to the locations on time also bearing in mind about security.

"As per flood, we will be watching as time goes on as how best we can deploy even in that kind of circumstance. Elections are statutary and there are certain times it  will have to be conducted.

 

"If we have flooding we will  know how you handle it to  conduct the  election because in the previous election, when we had flooding we managed to conduct election. There are a lot of things we can do within the ambit of the law to conduct election in difficult terrain and we try as much as possible to see those posibitities if such situations arise.
