Water Will Soon In Yenagoa Metropolis: Bayelsa Government

The Bayelsa State Government  has assured that before the end of prosperity administration's first tenure, water will flow in Yenagoa metropolis especially those places that were already piped.

This was made known on Wednesday in Yenagoa by  Daniel Alabrah, the chief press secretary to the governor during an interractive session with  members of the Federated Correspondent's Chapel of the "NUJ" under the "Correspondent's Forum.

He said already the governor of the state has given the commissioner for water resources a matching order to make sure that pipe born water flows in Yenagoa.

Recall that sometime last year some places in the state witnessed flowing of pipe borne water but it didn't last for even up to a month and it went although the CPS explained that so many factors contributed to that.

Daniel Alabrah speaking on behalf of the state government also assured that Bayelsans that Bayelsa rice will flood the state adding that in 2021 the state produced about 1000 bags of rice but regretted that flood spoilt that of last year.

The state government  he said has acquired 38 hectares of land for rice farming at Otuasega in Ogbia local area of the state, while they have another 60 hectares at Amassoma in Southern Ijaw local government area and the smallest one at School to Land, Iminrigi road in Yenagoa.

On security, he said  that the government of Douye Diri has been able to stabilize the security system in the state in the last three years to a large extent saying there can be no development without peace. 

He said "Water is a general challenge not only in Bayelsa state but across the country but for us as a state, we will sormount the challenge. The Ministry of Water Resources has been able to identify the challenges and has addressed it.

 "The governor has given a marching order that before the end of this first tenure, water should flow in all the houses in Yenagoa. But it will come with a cost.

" The state government  has trained over five hundred (500) Bayelsans in Agriculture and Agric extension in the last three years.

"Government also said, they didn't just train them but also empowered them to setup their own businesses and farms across the length and breathe of the state.

In 2021, we produced 1000 bags of Bayelsa rice but in 2022, the devastating flood destroyed the entire farm and we couldn't produce anything. 

"This year Bayelsa rice will flood the market. We have Rice  Mill at Niger Delta University Amassoma and another one at Otuoke".

"Governor Douye Diri has his own farm, some of the commissioners have their farms, I have my own farm in my Community and even the Director General New Media, Kola Oredipe also have a farm".

"The Tombia/Etegwe roundabout that used to be hideout for criminals both day and night and volatile has now become peaceful that people can walk freely with their valuables intact".
