Presidents Tinubu’s One hundred Days In Office, No Hope For The Common Man: INC/IYC.

Jonathan Lokpobiri President Ijaw Youth Council said   “Tinubu’s one hundred days in office has been that of mixed feelings. It has been an eventful one days in office.

“However they are also moments to reflect from where we are coming from and in so doing we can also admit that they are hopes of a new beginning for a new Nigeria. The actions decisively taken by the government of the day has had undoubtedly a dangerous economic hardship on the lives of ordinary Nigerians. 

“Taking both the policy on dollar as well as fuel subsidy removal, these are major indications of survival of the people and these decisions were taken simultaneously. The effect on our people is a  harsh reality but  like I said if properly managed and we move away from our usual corrupt ways, it also gives a new glimpse of hope for  an economic recovery where the economy will be depend more on business transactions.

“When economies are laid only on the shoulders of official government activities, it doesn’t result in the prosperity of a people. But when the private individuals both the middle class and more especially within the middle class participate actively in economic activities through productive economic activities, the economy will gradually find a balance and reverse itself.

“Tinubus one  hundred days of being in power I must tell you has been tough, it is just because Nigerians are resilient people otherwise, it is enough to send a lot of people into suicide because many people’s salaries didn’t increase but have to deal with a spiral increase in prices of market commodities all across.

“You can image a civil servant whose salary is N50,000 as the case may be and he has a family of about four children and a wife, just imagine how the fifty thousand can feed that family and there is a dangerous spike in electricity as well and all of these, there is no cushion from the government to support families.

“Vehicles you could ordinarily fill with about N18,000 is now within the neighborhood of N65000. So you can imagine the burden of existence on Nigerians at the moment. What of the poor who are unemployed who practically depend on some artisan works, bricklaying and into all these menial jobs whose daily income is N1,500 and of course families will eat daily. 

“I must tell you that it has been an unimaginable experience on the lives of these people. So it been hell for people but like I said nothing will  in Nigeria until drastic measures are taking which I believe the government has taken but I do think that in terms of mitigating the effort, economic realities on Nigerians must go beyond these prophesying of patriotism in the name of providing palliatives. 

“How do these palliatives get to real people who need it? Now you give 5 billion naira the state governors whose states already are being impoverished by their own actions and then the only palliative that is extended to Nigerians is given to the governors to use for their own official vehicles. 

“How does it translate to helping the poor, well like I said, I’m a hopeful man. Im not an acute pessimist, I’m an optimist. Nigerians will always brace up, we are the most enduring people on earth as far I’m concerned. And of course we know that these ills didn’t start with Tinubu.

“Nigerians will also pardon him for the mess he has met. Buhari’s government took it worst in terms of hardening the lives of Nigerians. His campaign slogan was the next level and he took the impoverishment of Nigerians to the next level.

“He promised 100 million Nigerian to be taken out of poverty and about hundred millions plus of people were taken into poverty under Buhari but our challenges should make us become stronger, more determined and willing to learn from the mistakes of the past.

Ijaw National Congress Publicity Secretary, Ezonebi Oyakemeagbegha  in his own assessment said “I will say that  the one hundred days has been so difficult that has impacted us negatively from day one that they said fuel subsidy has been removed.

“If I were Mr president, I would have  tried to understand what  fuel subsidy issues are before I  talk about removing it. From even what we heard, it was paid till June. Some persons may have been preparing for June it was a very negative impact on the citizens of Nigeria.

“From day one it was hardship and now that they are talking about palliatives that they have saved billion of naira and we are saying poorest of the poor, how can you identify them? Are you going to Imo state to look at the poorest of the poor are you going to Bayelsa to look at them. What are the measuring instruments to determine that? “Palliatives are being sent to states, what impact has it made? Nothing. How are you sure that these palliatives have been sent? We are not sure and what is the issue on ground? 

“The major issue is transportation. Of course transport fares have tripled and it affects every other sector. If you are saying that the fuel subsidy was a scam you will identify those who are involved and get them arrested. That is not an excuse.

“What of the refineries that we have, how much does it take to make these come alive?  No feasibility study, the next thing you said by this December, the refineries will work. That has been the assurance in the past ten years and nothing has happened and you said you want to sharer rice bags. How any rice bags can somebody feed on and for how long? 

“For me these one hundred days have been one hundred days of weeping, we have been tortured. The middle class have been completely eliminated. You have a car, you can’t eve drive your car. I see these hundred days of  ordinary mere promises. One hundred days of suffering and crying. There is no hope for the ordinary mam now.

 “Our major challenge is the pump price and these so called monies that have been saved, we have refineries that are not working, why are they not working?

“Once we engage for the construction and maintenance of the refineries, that will take some youths off the streets.

“The whole of Benin road and the major roads are dilapidated, if constructions are going on, we will also engage some youths. We have rail way that terminates at Otakpe, can’t we complete it to Abuja so that those that have business there will use it?

“If this government is serious, we would have seen hope from it. If you  are giving people hope, please let us see it physically. All these are what people call bigger scam.
