NLC Warning Strike: Bayelsa TUC Discloses Why It Didn't Partake.

 

The  Bayelsa State Chairman  of Trade Union Congress  Laye Julius has admitted that the union  did not take  in the two days warning  strike organized by the  Nigerian  Labour Congress because the national body infirmed him that she was not part of the action.

He said that the national didn't take part in the activity because she was not adequately informed.

Recall the TUC Bayelsa members did not take part in the warning today an action the NLC Chairman in the state Banabas Simon described  as sabotage.

But reacting to that  Lyr Julius said  “For anybody to use the word that TUC is sabotaging NLC is quite unfortunate and I don’t think that that kind of utterance should come from a leader. 

“This thing is all about synergy and mutual understanding if we want to have a total hold on the state government and make them accountable.

"The directive from my national is that TUC is not part of the strike and the reasons  is that  there ought to be a synergy between the two centers if we want to achieve the total strike. 

“If NLC has taken decision, they would have done it in consultation with TUC. The information I got was that NLC made the announcement of going to strike without informing TUC.

“We had NEC meeting here and it was learnt that no information came to TUC President or Secretary that NLC wants to go on strike. 

“NLC held their meeting on Friday and took that decision that they are going on Tuesday so as a result of that TUC has  this feeling that it  supposed to be  consulted before this move.

  The Chairman of NLC Bayesla Chapter, Banabas Simon had accused Bayelsa TUC of sabotaging the effort in the state.

Speaking on Tuesday in Yenagoa after monitoring the exercise to know the level of compliance, the NLC Chairman regretted the action of TUC stating that members of the union will at the end benefit from the outcome of the warning strike.

  Banabas said “I and my team are going round monitoring the action and of course there is total compliance except some of them who claim not to have known, we have also told them and they are going.

“The only challenge is the TUC side of it that is sabotaging our effort here but that notwithstanding, we know that NLC and all or affiliate members will always comply. 

“We have told them and we are personally going round today and tomorrow to see none that of our members will be at work for today and tomorrow.

 

 “Of course anybody that sees us will lock his office and quite in our presence with the exception of those that claim to be members of TUC who are sabotaging our effort.

“At the end of the day, the dividends of this action they will be part of it. It is not encouraging in the movement of labour here in Bayelsa State not  even encouraging at the national because we should be in tune at times like this.
