The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Oluremi Tinubu on Friday joined political leaders and women from across Imo State to attend the grand finale of the popular August Meeting.
The meeting which took place at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri, Imo State marked the end of this year's meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Oluremi Tinubu acknowledged the warm reception she received from Imo State Government.
Tinubu said "I am deeply honoured to be among the vibrant and resilient people of this great state.
"The Imo Women's August Meeting is a testament to the strength and unity of the women of this state. I appreciate the warm welcome and assure you that the federal government is committed to supporting Imo State's development and the empowerment of its women. Together, we will build a better Nigeria.
Speaking earlier, the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, thanked the first lady for honouring his invitation.
He stated, "Today, we are honoured to welcome the distinguished First Lady of our great nation, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, to our beloved Imo State.
"This gathering signifies the strength of our democracy and the importance of women in shaping our society. We appreciate your presence and we are committed to working hand in hand with the federal government to bring development to our state."
Barr. Mrs. Chioma Uzodimma, First Lady of Imo State however expressed her heartfelt gratitude extending her warmest welcome to Oluremi Tinubu.
"Your presence here today is a testament to the unity of our great nation. As the First Lady of Imo State, I am proud to stand beside my husband, Governor Hope Uzodimma, in our commitment to the welfare and empowerment of women in our state. Together, we shall continue to champion the cause of our women." She said.
Hon. MacDonald Ebere, PhD, State Party Chairman of Imo APC, while addressing newsmen emphasized the significance of unity within women of the state
He said that the shared Prosperity administration of Dist.Sen Hope Uzodimma touches various political and developmental issues.
He asked that Imo women should come out in their large numbers come November 11 and vote massively for Dist.Sen Hope Uzodimma, so that the infrastructural revolutions in the state will continue unhindered.
