PDP Organizing Secretary, Women Coordinator, Others Defect To APC In Otuan

 

The All Progressive Congress, APC, in Otuan, Ward 5, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state, received a big increase when over 18 Leaders led about one thousand three hundred and sixty of their supporters from the PDP to the APC, on Sunday 27th August, 2023.

The event took place at Otuan town when Great Joshua Maciver, the running mate to His Excellency Chief Timipre Sylva, visited the community.

Great Joshua, who began his visit at the palace of the Amananaowei of Otuan, His Royal Highness Engr Nana Okoto, stated that he was not in the community to campaign, but to dismantle the PDP's structure in the ward.

His Royal Highness who was represented by his council of chiefs, appealed to the APC deputy governorship candidate to help the community with the completion of their town hall, just as the chiefs decried the number of promises they have received with regards to the town hall, but nothing has been done till date.

Reacting to the issue raised, Great Joshua vowed to complete the hall and immediately put mercenaries in place to kick-start the project.

At the venue of the defection, Great Joshua, popularly referred to as the Tukpa of Izon-Ibe bemoaned the underdevelopment the Southern Ijaw people have suffered, and chided the prosperity government over the Oporoma bridge, pointing out that governor Douye Diri led administration is taking the people of the Area for a ride.

He  noted that the Southern Ijaw people are going to express their dissatisfaction through the ballot.

He assured them that unlike the haphazard bridge being constructed by the PDP led prosperity government, Sylva's administration will review and construct what is befitting and commensurate with the enormous wealth the LGA is giving the state.

The leaders of the defectors, who took turns to express their resentment towards the PDP, stated that they could no longer tolerate the deceptive tactics of the Party, adding that PDP portray the authentic meaning of deceit, and are champions of the use-and-dump syndrome, while pledging their unwavering support to the APC and its candidates on November 11th.

On his part, chairman of the APC in Bayelsa state, Chief Dennis Otiotio-Odioni, who received the defectors on behalf of the party, promised to carry them along in the scheme of things.

The leading defectors are, the organizing secretary of PDP ward 5, southern Ijaw, Mr Miebi Adeyn, the PDP women coordinator ward 5, Miss Alami Philip, Retired Captain Philip Amabebe, Clapperton Ogbolowari, Omoni Sunday and Chief Victor Bob. 

Others are Pastor Morris Gbere, Chief Bomo Alaseigha, Felix Souton, and Tolu Ozato, amongst others.
