The Imo State Chapter of People's Democratic Party has advised the current leadership under All Progressives Congress to allow her people and members of PDP to have a breath of fresh air.
In a press statement signed by Mazi Emenike Nmeregini, acting State Publicity Secretary of PDP, "It smacks of huge surprise to the leadership of lmo state PDP to experience two unwarranted attacks on its members within two days.
"The first, was the demolition of properties of a chieftain of the party, Evang. Mike Ikoku and the unwholesome behavior of Uzodinma and his supporters against our party's Governorship candidate, Distinguished Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and his entourage at the Iriji Mbaise festival.
The statement continued " In the early hours of tuesday 15, a band of stern and fierce looking thugs, said to be attached to the Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA, and allegedlly dispatched by Governor, Hope Uzodinma through his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Chinasa Nwaneri, arrived at the business premises of Evang. lkoku at the New Owerri area of the state capital numbering over 100, came fully armed with dangerous weapons which they brandished, descended and alledlldy demolished the popular multimillion naira Allseasons hotels, Mimi Place, Havana Place, Boss Radio FM and Buzziboddi FM, all, properties of the Owerri based business mogul and PDP Chieftain.
"According to report, the jaundiced allegation is that the structures were built on government approved tree lawn but we all know that these properties were built after the owner paid all necessary fees and subsequently secured government's approval. The demolished properties have been there for over ten years.
"What has turned a big puzzle to the minds of critical lmolites is, if these facilities have all the while served as rendezvous and recreational centres to the leaders and officers of the government. How come they have at the build up of the gubernatorial elections, suddenly been found to occupy a government reserved area?
"Did the location of the properties automatically change status because the proprietor of the business empire turned to be a chieftain of PDP? Were they not the same locations and status when the maverick politician served as leader of Uzodinma's Hopism political organisation? The question remains, what really has changed?
"Most disgusting, the same property alledlldy destroyed by Uzodinma and his government at Allseasons Hotel can also be sighted in various hotels and residential buildings closed to Allseasons. Why did Uzodinma and his government deliberately avoid them?
"Why is Allseasons Hotel the only one Uzodinma is after despite the fact that the proprietor secured Imo State government approval to errect the structure? What offense did Mike Ikoku committe if not that he is a PDP member and Chieftain, championing the Safe Imo Again Project?
"You see, you can fool the people some time, but you cannot fool them all the time. Their one time exotic Mimi place, Allseasons Hotel and Havana place have suddenly turned to be toxic properties located in contravened area.
"This indeed is political crudity taken too far. How do lmolites believe that site allocations ones approved by the state government, have for reasons purely political, been turned illegal, this is when moreso, other properties adjacent and proximal to them are permitted to stand. Uzodinma must allow lmolites breathe. This is pure clannish and primitive politics indeed!
"We, of the Imo PDP will continue to appeal to the stakeholders and law enforcement agencies in the state to come to the rescue, because the security situation is fast going down the precipice.
"The November guber elections should not be translated into physical battle. We all need to live after the poll, election is no a t do or die affair and Uzodinma and his APC government should not be allowed to continue to destroy the principles of democracy in our state.
"Imo PDP will continue to advocate and support free, fair and transparent elections, devoid of all encumbrances to the success of the electioneering processes. We shall remain law abiding even in the face of provocations and molestations. The statement concluded.
