Biboye Ties Nuptial Nut With Kunakegha

 





The traditional marriage between Biboye Blessing Nelson of  Egbedi and Kuronakegha Okpose of  Kaiama both in Kolokuma/ Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has been consummated on Saturday July 15, 2023 at 2nd Bossy Water Road along Amassoma Tombia Road in Yenagoa.





The ceremony was conducted with pomp and pageantry had a Director in the Bayelsa State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Naba Adoni as Chairman.





The Chairman of the Occasion, Engr Naba Adoni in his opening remarks said God has brought the couple together to become husband and wife which have made people to gather to celebrate with them.





He described marriage as the oldest institution ordained by God for mankind to fulfill destiny and advised the couple to be faithful, love and defend each other to build a successful family.





The Spokesmen of the two families namely Talawari Seituwazi for the groom and Sunday Oweidougha George for the bride family conducted the marriage in accordance with the Ijaw native laws, customs and traditions with exchange of traditional titles and entertainment drinks to the admiration of guests that thronged the venue to witness the marriage to celebrate with Kuronakegha and Biboye.





The rich Ijaw traditional marriage culture was on display which involved filing out of the couple in a carnival procession, payment of bride prize accompanied with drinks, identification of bride, and find my husband were observed.





The most interesting aspect was for the husband and his family members to make the bride laugh as was requested by the bride family to seek consent from their daughter to accept all the monies and drinks presented by the groom family to fulfill the requirements of the traditional marriage which was followed to its logical conclusion.





The father of the bride Chief Nelson pronounced fatherly and heavenly blessings on the newly married couple while Apostle Solomon Francis conducted the marriage blessing at same venue.





Apostle Francis stated that marriage is a responsibility particularly on the part of the husband to love, cater for his wife and children, and urged Biboye to be submissive to her husband. He prayed God to bless and make the couple fruitful.





The Master of Ceremony, Kenneth Ikoro, aka Bara-polo supervised the cutting of the  cake by the couple after the spelling of Love.





The couple took to the floor for bridal dance which provoked a naira rain in different dominations from well wishers.





Giving the vote of thanks on behalf of his wife, Mr. Kuronakegha Okpose glorified God for making the marriage ceremony successful and thanked everyone for their support and for finding time to celebrate with them inspite of their busy schedule and prayed God to bless them.





Speaking to newsmen at the venue of the marriage ceremony, a relative of the father of the. groom, Chief Sunday Oweidougha George said he consider himself fortunate to be part of the celebration adding that everything about the marriage went well which he stated is a sign of blessing from God upon the couple and expressed gratitude to everyone for coming to grace the occasion.
